Randy Henderson is a seasoned Classic Country drummer from the dusty plains of West Texas, providing the “beats that moves your feets!” A veteran of barroom dance halls, VFW halls, recording studios and concert venues, Randy's straightforward style and steady, solid in the pocket playing is guaranteed to make even the most reserved person want to get up and shake a leg. If you like any kind of country music from Classic to Texas Country, Randy plays it in a way you can truly hang your hat on.
Influenced by all the current music of the day, including 1970's rock and pop hits, as well as popular country songs of the time, now considered to be Classic Country, Randy began performing on weekends as a teenager, playing to patrons of the local Country and Western bar scene who loved to scoot a boot and drink a few rounds. As the years passed, Randy branched out into songwriting and recording studio projects, learning to play bass and rhythm guitar as well as gaining some invaluable knowledge of the process of recording in the studio environment.
It was with the release of his group's self-titled album “Texas Gold” that Randy made his recording debut not only as a drummer, but also as a songwriter, having co-written a number of the songs on the album which was recorded in Lubbock, Texas, hometown of Rock and Roll Icon Buddy Holly, and produced by the legendary Lloyd Maines.
This experience served Randy well, as later in life while a member of the Texas Rebel Band, Randy not only played drums on this bands entire album, but also played the bass guitar parts, wrote and co-wrote half of the songs and co-produced the project along with renowned Texas musician Mark Paden.
Randy has also performed in bands that were featured as opening acts for some of the top Nashville country artists such as Moe Bandy, Conn Hunley, T.G. Sheppard and Mel Tillis. Earning the nickname “The Shuffle King”, for his ability to play a great country shuffle beat, Randy was once even introduced by a mutual friend to singer songwriter Gary P. Nunn as "the best country drummer in the state of Texas."
As a Cancer survivor, Randy continues to embrace life on a day to day basis. Using music as a way to reach deep down into people's hearts and provide joy and entertainment that makes the day seems little brighter, Randy Henderson is the kind of musician people enjoy not only hearing perform, but also one they can't help but be moved by, on and off the dance floor.
Currently Randy performs with the group Texas Gray , runs an entertainment business( Abbey Room Entertainment) with his wife Debbie and continues to write and record in his home studio.
